If you have a mouse but you don’t have a keyboard, you can use the on-screen keyboard that’s built into the Windows operating system or the myriad of virtual keyboard applications that are out there. Instead of typing on a physical keyboard, you can use a virtual keyboard to achieve the same result. And that’s great!

But what if you’re faced with the opposite situation? What if you have a keyboard, but you don’t have a mouse? In that case, you need to know about a free keyboard mouse emulator called NeatMouse. What it does is it lets you use your keyboard to control your mouse. You can use the number keys on your keyboard to move the cursor, to scroll and to click.

NeatMouse provides support for 32- and 64-bit Windows editions, any edition from XP SP2 onward. As expected, a setup wizard will help you install NeatMouse on your Windows PC. The nice thing is that the setup wizard will ask you to choose between a normal and a portable installation.

I liked two things about NeatMouse’s interface. First up, I liked that it is very simple; you will figure everything out at a glance. Next up, I liked that the interface provides support for multiple languages. English, French, German, Romanian, and other languages are supported.

The default settings work like this. Press the Scroll Lock button to enable mouse emulation (a notification will show up in the system tray when you activate mouse emulation). Once you’re done with that, use the number keys to control the mouse. 8 to go up, 2 to go down, 4 to go left, 0 to left click, and so on (all key bindings are conveniently presented on NeatMouse’s interface).

You can create custom settings, you can pick another button to activate mouse emulation, you can assign different key bindings, you can set it so mouse emulation is automatically activated on startup.

NeatMouse is free – completely free. But, if you like this mouse emulator, please make a donation.

Conveniently control your mouse with your keyboard. You can do just that with NeatMouse.

Pros

The setup wizard will let you pick between a normal and a portable installation. NeatMouse’s interface provides support for multiple languages. Enable mouse emulation by pressing a hotkey and then use the number keys to control the mouse. There are several customization options you can play with: create custom settings, assign different key bindings, and more. NeatMouse is free software (consider making a donation).

Cons

None that I could think of.
